Lifespan analysis

How likely is your file to come back?

The chance of getting every byte back, over storage time, for each scenario. Shaded bands show how much the answer moves if the published decay rates are off.

Run the lifespan analysis (step 4) to fill this in.

Evidence

Where every number comes from

Each parameter is tagged: measured in a published study, derived from one, upper bound, or assumed by us.

  • This is a simulation. No DNA is made, stored or read.
  • Ambient-temperature decay rates are Arrhenius extrapolations from hot accelerated-ageing tests.
  • Humidity is not a model input. Each model only holds near its lab test conditions.
  • Reads are grouped by their true strand ("oracle clustering"). This is optimistic compared with real pipelines.
  • Results are probabilities under stated assumptions, not expiry dates or guarantees.
